Fresh food. Friendly staff. Fantastic views.
How It All Started
Through a passion for the ocean, great food, and a desire to share the stoke, friends Joe Lazar, Steve McGillin and Moe Lerner founded Haleiwa Joe’s restaurant in 1998.
Their adventures brought them to the North Shore for waves, but the Aloha spirit of sleepy Haleiwa town made them stay.
The founders believed that this Aloha spirit could be shared through a dining experience by celebrating surf legends in original memorabilia on the walls, menus boasting fresh, local ingredients and staff members that are just as talented at swimming with sharks as they are serving Mai Tais.
The Haleiwa location overlooking the ocean’s spectacular surf has become a social and culinary cornerstone for locals and visitors alike. In 2000, Haleiwa Joe’s opened a second location in Haiku Gardens on the windward side of Oahu. The open-air restaurant in this lush valley overlooks its own tropical garden and koi pond with a breathtaking view of the Ko‘olau mountain range.
Keeping It Real
Haleiwa Joe’s is committed to the passions of its founders: quality food and service, catching waves, and community participation.
Whether it’s donations to local clubs and surf contests, or large non-profit events held annually, Haleiwa Joe’s loves giving back to the community that supports our business.
